12/3
Wow! I can't believe it's been three days! McKinley is doing great and we're just waiting for him to have a bowel movement so that I can feed him. His color is great and he was very alert most of the day yesterday. Brian stayed with McKinley last night while I went home with Emma. He was thrilled to spend the time with McKinley and I got to relax a bit with Emma. I was hoping Emma would sleep with me last night, but no! She's much too big to stay with Momma! She offered her bed to me, but as much as I wanted to I knew how bad my back would feel in the morning.
Emma has been an angel throughout this whole ordeal. Lucky for us, we could keep her relatively unscathed. She had daycare for two days and with Grandma and Nana the next. Today is the day with her cousins, I'm sure they will all be tired, most of all Aunt Dawn and Uncle Sean! Of course, she comes up to the hospital during the evening but we really haven't changed much for her. Today we will let her see a video of her brother and hopefully tomorrow he will go to a regular room.
The doctors and nurses have all been wonderful and Mac is receiving great care. The Ronald McDonald house is wonderful, honestly it looks like a hotel or bed and breakfast. The people are wonderful and just work quietly behind the scenes. Food and items are donated, even on a daily basis.
Friends from my work brought a full course dinner for Brian and I (and at least 10 other people) the first night, so we've been eating well. It was so nice not to go to the cafeteria and eat homemade food.
We've met quite a few of the other parents. While some have moved on for various reasons, we've shared our stories and worries together. What a relief to share this worry and pain with others who are going through the same thing.

Well, I want to get ready to see McKinley and play with Emma so I'll stop now.
Stop back soon!
