Today I had to say goodbye to my precious dog Babe. We spent 18 wonderful years together. Anyone who said Dog is woman's best friend, suredly knew Babe.
She was the most loving, loyal and friendly dog. She has been with me since I was 19 - and she's gone on the life ride with me. Countless drives to everywhere and nowhere in between.
I got her from a neighbor while living in Piffard and the rest is history... She used to sleep on the floor, but then went to my bed - can you imagine a 50 lb. dog sleeping on the next pillow? That was me and Babe!
Her favorite ride was down to my parent's house. We'd get close and just before the railroad tracks she'd start whining and jumping around - she knew exactly where she was going! Once she got there, she'd jump in Dad's car to just sit and wait for a ride around the town. It didn't matter what she did with him, she just adored my father.
There are so many stories to tell, but just one that all animal lovers will know... Each morning and throughout each day she'd greet me as I walked in and out of the house. She never failed to greet me with a smile and a kiss. I would lean down and she'd nuzzle and tell me just how much she loved me. What could be better than the unending love of your best friend?
As we left the house together on our last ride together, she turned back toward the house and barked as if to say goodbye to all who knew her. Babe you are loved, and you will be missed
